Prostate Cancer Awareness

East Side Health District provides FREE PSA blood tests for men age 40 – 64 years old.  For the PSA blood test, a blood sample is taken and tested to determine the PSA level.   African American men have the highest rates of prostate cancer in the world.   But any man can get prostate cancer, but it’s more common in African American men.  You may also be at higher risk if you are 40 or older, have a father or brother with prostate cancer and eat a lot of animal fat (such as lard or butter).    East Side Health District health educators are located through out East St. Louis, Canteen, Stites and Centreville Townships to provide outreach testing and education to uninsured and underinsured men, or stop by East Side Health District’s Walk –In clinic on Thursday’s only- 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m..  It’s FREE.  Remember, prostate cancer can be treated.  This project is funded by The Illinois Department of Public Health.
